Move Those Brain Cells

People like to think. Maybe not all the time, but an unusual number like to keep their brains exercised. Aren’t you curious why there are those who sit down, grab a pencil, and solve a crossword puzzle in the newspaper while eating in a diner? The next time you see that black and white box, try it. Crossword puzzles touch on history and trivia in an unorthodox way. Gain knowledge without really spending hours with Britannica.

Have you tried the Rubik’s Cube? It is one of the famous puzzles. The object of the 3x3x3 cube is for you to complete every face of the cube with one solid color. There are variations of this mechanical puzzle like the Mini Cube which is a 2x2x2 cube and the 5x5x5 cube which is called the Professor’s Cube.

If those two puzzles are not that difficult for you, try the Towers o Hanoi where the set includes three pegs with disks of varying sizes that can be slide onto any of the pegs. The game begins with the disks on one peg and these disks are arranged from largest to smallest with the smallest on the top. What you have to do is move the stack of disks to another peg. Piece of cake? Think again. You can only move one disk at a time, and no disk can be placed on top of a smaller disk. Now that is challenging.

These three are not the only games that require some thinking. There are jigsaw puzzles, spot the difference, solitaire, impossible puzzle or sometimes known as the sum and product puzzle, riddles, and many more.
